OOOOH JOHN, I WATCHED THE MOVIE 'ISADORA' V. REDGRAVE....I AM SHOCKED THAT SHE GOT AN AWFULLY ACCIDENT STUCKED WITH THE RED SCARF TO CHOKE TO DEATH BY TIRE OF RACE CAR IN THE END OF HER LIFE....HOW HORRIBLE LOOKS AND SOOO TRAGIC ALOT ABOUT HER LIFE AND LOST HER DEAR TWO CHILDREN IN THE WATER AFTER ACCIDENT, TOO!!!! I NOTICED THAT V. REDGRAVE SHOULD WIN FOR THE BEST ACTRESS IN 'ISADORA'..... MY OPINION: GARBO KNEW WHO SHE WAS....THE SCRIPT OFFERED GARBO TO DO ACT IN IT BUT PERHAPS SHE CAN'T DO BECAUSE SHE DON'T LIKE FIGHT, VIOLENCE, HORRIBLE FACE-DEATH, ETC.....BUT SHE LOVED TO DANCE.....I DON'T KNOW WHY SHE DID NOT ACT AS ISADORA DUNCAN, EITHER....WELL!!!

yes..its a great story.i love it too!
i haven´t seen the film but i read about her...soooooooooooo tragic.
why the film wan´t made?? no one knows...it was around 34,35...-when mayer and GG (?) quickley decided . ..DO THIS NEXT or THIS...
many other planned projekts around this time (end of 30s) like CARMEN or MADAME CURIE were scrapped.
I just read that selznick wanted her to do Shakespears CLEOPATRA or Oskar Wildes SALOME in the mid 40s.

Hi daaaarrrrrring, John.....I don't know what to say but I have few opinions about Garbo's choice roles in any movies....I don't think Garbo likes to act as "bad women" roles in any evil women history or biography....because Garbo said "I hate vamps...hate bad women"!!!! I believe that Isadora Duncan was not a bad woman or vampish at all because she danced so lovely and beautiful in the musical!!! Isadora created her own art of dancing styles!!!! I bet that Garbo loved to dance sometime because I watched the "Grand Hotel" that Garbo danced around in the Hotel suite....so sweet and cute!!! Garbo's wonderful clothes like flying!!!! ...but "Salome" or "Cleopatra"....were they "bad women" roles??? I don't know!! Garbo wanted to portray as good woman in the role....hard to find a good story for her? She prefered as Clown! Garbo picked "Anna Karenina" up....I wonder why? Do you have an answer? Love, D.L.

Hi dave!! Well from what i know is that Cleopatra and Salome wasn´t "bad" woman at all. About the film. you know ISADORA wasn´t the only thing MGM had in pipeline for GG. They decided to do ANNA KARENINA..maybe they hought they could do ISADORA after AK but than came CAMILLE. The projekt wasn´t interresting anymore..so they came up with MADAME CURIE and WOMAN OF SPAIN ( a story GG loved and mayer bought the rights..a WESTERN film..) but than they did CONQUESt and so on. I think that they thoughts LETS DO Anna Karenina NEXT.cos it was a Big hit as a silent ( LOVE ) in 26/27....you know that Hollywood worked like this at this time. whatever..i LOVe talking about those projekts and i do dream about them and imagine them how they could have turned out all day.. ) ;D It makes me happy;)
