Hi, all of G.G. fans...."Katharine Hepburn A Hollywood Yankee" by Gary Carey...pages 47-48..."It was at one of these parties that Hepburn met Greta Garbo, her favorite actress. On the day the shy and reclusive star came for lunch, Hepburn arrived at Cukor's house early and went for a swim in his pool. As she was paddling around, Cukor ran out to announce Garbo's arrival; Kate jumped out of the pool, grabbed a towel and ran smack into the Swedish actress----who smiled enigmatically. Greatly flustered, Hepburn stammered out a greeting and then became tongue-tied. Later she (Hepburn) and Garbo became good friends. ;D "Me Stories Of My Life" by Katharine Hepburn...page 187.."Another time, just after I'd rented the house, George Cukor and Garbo came to call. She'd been told about the house and wanted to see it. I showed it off. Went upstairs---showed her the bedroom. She walked over to my bed. There was a lump on the bed (obviously a hot-water bottle). She looked at me, patted it and sighed. "Yes, I have one too. Vat is wrong vid us?" "Walking With Garbo" by Raymond Daum...page 194..."Garbo loved Hepburn's performance, though she was too shy to visit her former MGM colleague's dressing room and tell her so." "I applauded like mad. I wish I could have gone backstage to see that one (Hepburn). She can't sing--my God, she sounds like Rose Kennedy--but evidently she's full of energy, like Chanel", Garbo said!!!! ;D
