Jonny! My fav G film of course is CAMILLE. The 'utltimate' Garbo film. The only one truly worthy of her.
I liked her silent era best. She was so very young and enchanting. But I would die not ever hearing that 'voice'.

Queen Christina is on my top 10 because it's great film. Also, I agreed that Camille is indeed her best film. I just love Camille a lot. Saw it like 5, 6 times this year so far. ;D

I also love GG in "Queen Christina". MY god GG in trousers!!! She's not the suffering woman as in so many of her movies, no, she's really emancipated. And, hesy she looks so beautiful!!! But, I also love her as "Camille", it was the first movie I saw with her(when I was a child) could never forget her...

I agree - Camille is her best. THE VOICE - THUD!
Even though Ebba loves her Majesty Queen Christina, Marguerite is so tragic, it's a humbling experience to see.

:'(yeah it is very sad for her unsuccessful screen tests in "La Duchess de Laugeius" so why? and what happened? Financial problems? or her fearful about her looks?

David:
The film had financial collapse and it had nothing to do with Garbo. She was devistated. BTW, I'm sure she was pleased with her 'looks'. Afterall, she had a MIRROR!! And that test was gorgeous!

:'(yeah it is very sad for her unsuccessful screen tests in "La Duchess de Laugeius" so why? and what happened? Financial problems? or her fearful about her looks? That was such a big dilema. You can read about it in Barry Paris. you can blame nobdy particular for it but all in all it was the italian money "givers". They lost interrest after GG didnĀ“t want to Show herself in dayLight and so on when THEY wanted to meet her. they met her in a dark hotel room....and GG hided her face under a big hat,. thats one of the story...dunno if its true... why should she?? why was she sacred?? she looked F A B !! why GG did this or if this is actually true..no one can say... true is, that GG really wanted to do this film.. i wonder what happened with the script... thats a big story..i will try to scan the text for you soon... Oh, theres a german doku about it...it explains a lot about this disaster. audrey, have you heard that theres a 12-13 min version of the FULL screentest??? i hope taht they will release it one day.

The Divine Hairbrush was in school furthering her education and so it went that the Divine One's hair was neglected and grew to unfathomable lengths. The Hairbrush would never have allowed the beautiful multi-colored honey blond hairs to turn gray (!), but was selfish and wanted to get ahead in the world. The Hairbrush, in retrospect, let the world down, and apologizes profusely. Oh well...we'll always have Tremezzo...

My favorite movie is "The Kiss"! I love her in that! She was so incredibly beautiful in that movie and I LOVE that close up of her when she puts the lipstick on. I also think she looks so beautiful in "The Single Standard". Joy

I also think she looks so beautiful in "The Single Standard". Joy Yes, I saw this movie "Kiss" in her last silent film...oh yes, that was wonderful when she looked at the mirror to use her lipstick on lusty sexy lips and beautiful half closed- eyes, too! I love her eyelashes sweeps down while she sat on the couch alone!!!!! Yes, I saw that movie "Single Standard" often that she walked alone with a big umbrella..when the crazed guy chased her and stopped by...said "I am walking alone because I want to walk alone!" Oh sweet Garbo with the cute baby boy hugged!!!! I wish those silent films would be Sound Talkies!!!!! Sad! Thank you for sharing your favorite film! D.L.
