I read the topic about paperdolls and saw those AMAZING pics of Garbo's costumes so I became very interested in beautiful costumes worn in the Classical era of Hollywood. Here are some I would like to share with you :
Indeed, Garbo comes first! ;D
I really like this 20s style. This hat she wears in Love is sooooo sweet!!!! ;D ;D ;D ;D
It reminds me of Catherine Zeta Jones in Chicago:
Very elegant in The Mysterious Lady:
Very simple and beautiful in The painted Veil:
I also like the style of the second half of 19th century, like in Anna Karenina:
Another sweet hat in Conquest:
And now, some other actresses.
Audrey Hepburn as Sabrina:
Elizabeth Taylor(unfortunately, I don't know in which film):
Grace Kelly in Rear Window:
And in To catch a Thief:
Joan Fontaine:
Lauren Bacall in To have and have not:
Gorgeous Marlene Dietrich:
The unforgetable tuxedo in Morocco:
And cabaret style in Blue Angel:
Norma Shearer as Marie Antoinette:
Rita Hayworth:
And sweet Vivien Leigh in Gone with the wind:
Even though this forum is dedicated to Garbo, I hope you don't mind me posting pics of other actresses.
It's the costumes that are of great importance for visual characteristics of an actor. It doesn't have to be a film with historical theme, because contemporary costumes can be interesting too like those of Garbo in Love or Marlene's in Blue Angel or Morocco. I wonder what you think about this topic...
Anyway, it's impossible to post all that wonderful costumes, so this is just a bit of my choice!! ;D
