Oooooooh!!!! Strange face!!!! Garbo's original natural....yes!!!! Bo is not great actress at all....she has no mystery, too......but Garbo was the One Mysterious!!!! Talluah Bankhead and Marlene Dietrich tried to be like Garbo looks.....Marlene Dietrich was so embarrassed being "Second Garbo"at Paramont studios.... .....many women were so jealous of Greta Garbo because G.G. won on the top of beautiful actresses in the movies.....oh wow!!!!

Perfect body??? I think it is sooo horrible to get alot of surgery on face and body from butcher doctors, ha ha ha!!!! Garbo and Dietrich refused to have face-lift....Dietrich did not want to look like Frankenstein's wife in old film 30's....ha ha ha!!! Garbo tried to do special anti-aging stuffs with Gayelord for health reasons.....but hard to stay young forever!

I know it is a bit far fetched, but I just think Siouxsie Sioux has that something like Garbo. Perhaps not looks as much...but more that stillness, the aristokratic(?) beauty. And her voice!!!!! Oh my G.... you need to hear this woman sing. The same deep throaty voice....Listen to Land's End or The Last Beat of My Heart. They are beautiful.

;D Hi, Lorna....how interesting this lovely picture of Siouxsie Sioux....I have not known her very well but I am curious about her....I wish I can feel her voice because I am deaf....sadly!!! But I can feel the vibrate on the tone of her voice.....hopefully!!!! I noticed that her eyelids are deep....like Garbo's....lips, yes! High cheekbone, yes!! Thank you to show it, Lorna!!!!

I read the book....Garbo said to Sam Green..."You know, it's so strange how life is. You go along and you accept whatever is there as fact. You put on your face and your make-up and everything and you get going. All of a sudden, one day, there's a hand that comes---in my imagination, every seven or ten years or whatever---a hand that goes over the face and changes it a bit, puts more weakness in it...And it's equally revolting each time. The face----the hand has come to push it about. How imagine...Garbo washed her make-up off everyday after her work in films.....how often she put make-up on again and off then on then off then on.....everyday??? How tired she might be!!!! wow? Hairdresser and Make-up dresser fixed on her hair and make-up at the M.G.M. studio every mornings!!!!

David, Siouxsie is was one of the first punk female artists (if not the first). She has a beautiful deep, throaty voice that sounds like noone else. I have to admit I posted a pic of a period when she looked pretty glamurous although if you ever do a search of Siouxsie you will find her looking pretty...well..you will just have to look for yourself. Anyway..you can see her guest host THe Alternative show on VH1 (if you have it) Sunday, Oct.3 from 9.00-11.00 pm ET.

;D HI THANK YOU, MY DEAR JOHN ....YOU GOT GREAT DONE TO SCAN IT FOR ME THAT I CHOSE THIS PICTURES OF GARBO-ALIKE IN THE 1930'S SO I AM VERY DELIGHTFUL!!!! THAT REALLY INTERESTED!!! THEY LOOKED SO REAL GOOD LIKE GARBOISH!!! STRANGE AND WONDERFUL WOMEN DID HONOR GARBO FOR "DOUBLE GARBO" OR "STAND-IN" IN THE STUDIO. THE BOOK SAID...."Metro used two doubles for Garbo, Chris Marie Meeker and Geraldine De Vorak, whose duties included standing in for wardrobe fittings, lighting checks, and extreme long shots. De Vorak's resemblance to the star was particularly striking and she seems to have taken her job much too seriously, appearing on the street as Garbo, signing autographs, living her life as the star. "She is," wrote one hollywood reporter apparently frustrated over the unavailability of the real thing, "what Garbo should be and isn't." ANOTHER ARTICLES..... "Her MGM stand-in was Geraldine de Vorak, who subbed for Garbo in the operatic scenes of ROMANCE, the snow scenes in LOVE, and the car crash in WOMAN OF AFFAIRS, among others, and was sometimes called upon to pose as Garbo at film premieres. It was said that over the many years she did stand-ins for Garbo-----all the long-shot scenes and all the light and camera setups----de Vorak never met Garbo" ANOTHER TRAGIC SUICIDE DEATH OF GARBO'S DOUBLE...."Newsflash! Los Angeles Examiner, Thursday, May 10, 1934: "Greta Garbo's 'Double' Kills Herself---Leaves Note Telling Despair at Not Being Star": Beneath a mirror that had told a bitter truth, Sigrun Solvason, the girl who was known in Hollywood as "Greta Garbo's double," lay dead yesterday. She had taken poison, police said. All about the room were photographs of herself (Sigrun) and Garbo, mute evidence of the resemblance that raised her hopes so high she could not bear the pain when Hollywood dashed them to earth....She had always stated she could be as great a star as Greta Garbo if she had a chance." The headline was deliberately misleading "The woman was a Garbo lookalike, not her stand-in. So was the photo caption: "Sigrun Solvason, film actress, a suicide, whose body was found amidst photographs of herself (Sigrun) and Greta Garbo." The photos were of Garbo and Solvason separately, not together. Nevertheless, Solvason's suicide aggravated Garbo's melancholia. Well, that's sad stories about it....M.G.M. chosed only one real "Garbo" on top.....they (doubles) copied Garbo!!!!

;D I agree with you, J.M.....Double Garbo (Geraldine de Vorak was so mystery look-alike on the street to trick those fans and she was sooooo lucky to have a job at the M.G.M. studio for Garbo!!!!! wow!!! Garbo did met the lady "Betty Comden" songwriter who looks like Garbo in the party one time before Betty got a small part of end scene in the N.Y.C. garden in "Garbo Talks"....wow!! Sam Green said "Garbo loved Harvey Fierstein in "Garbo Talks"---but she wouldn't go to see him in "Torch Song Trilogy"!!! I bet that Garbo would laugh about Double Garbo tricks people!!! That's the mysterious way!!!! I love mystery, ha!

I always felt that Bo Derek could look like Greta. She has beautiful bone structure and it would work. But the girl can't act her way out of a paper bag. Not to mention she just doesn't have that 'magic' that Garbo had. Everything about Greta was magic. Her eyes, her voice, her body language....oh well, she was afterall, 'divine'.

You know..Bo is a beautiful woman. She does look like Garbo. However, as soon as she opens her mouth--pooosh!! All the mystery is gone and she starts to look more like Farah Fawcet (?) or something. I believe this was posted before but I think Michelle Pfeifer has that something like Garbo. Pfeiffer's face is, I think, I little too angular and cold but still quite alike. See for your self. www.pfeiffertheface.com/G_Annalysis_01.htm

I read somewhere that Garbo said if there was ever to be a filmed biography of her she would've liked Romy Schneider to star. Is this true? If so, what do you all think about it? Here are a few pic.

Only Romy!! yes its true but no one can confirm this IF this quote is actually true about GG wanting Romy for her bio film. anyway, romy could have done it ..the way GG would have or may have loved to see the film. No glitter ...many inner selfish problems, torn feelings about life and work...and so on..Romy was a fighter and a risk taker..didn´t care THAT MUCH for her carrer..only for ART in Films... and so was GG , even if GG didn´t fight that much in her carreer,...but i´m sure she regreted this and saw in Romy what she should have tried to in the 20s, 30s...dare-ing roles, films and doing art ,..or at least try to satisfy-ing your need to do your best with your god given talent. Romy was amazing in drama and she lived LIFE..a very dramatic life,..she was such an excentric sometimes..I LOVE THIS!! No Streep or all those high rated usa actress can reach her. I think we Europeans had amazing artists ....sad that americans can hardly see those films on USA cos most aren´t in english and only with subtitles. I film about GG starring Schneider would have been best in mid 70s when Romy was in her acting BEST!! I love her.....

Oh Lorna, I am awesome about two actresses in the pictures....I really wish that actresses whose plays for Garbo biography movie next year if happen because of Garbo's 100th anniversary....I hope so!!! I don't understand why U.S.A. (Hollywood) did not plan a Garbo biography movie? I noticed that Romy looked wonderful to pose as Garbo (Hairdo back "Mata Hari") I found out that sad about Romy died in 1982 age 43 so young , Thanks Lorna, and John!!!
