Hello everyone. Back to the topic "Mata Hari" and "Two Faced Woman" the uncensored versions which they do exist (I have posted on this subject a long time ago). A dear friend who has this wonderful website on the Divine Garbo (http://www.beepworld.de/members12/garbofan2/menue.htm) has prepared a new petition which will be sent to Mr Feltenstein so that one day we will see released on DVD the uncensored versions of both "Mata Hari" and "Two Faced Woman" with Greta Garbo. All signatures are most welcome and extremely important so please do not hesitate, we need to see the restored prints of these wonderful films on DVD (having seing both of them my self) I garanty you that it is worth it) Here is the link for the petition: www.petitiononline.com/GarboDVD/petition.html

Yes he did. Mark Vieira was the only person who responded to my plea when I tried to contact various people in the movie business about the uncensored versions of "Mata Hari" and "TFW". He displayed a genuine interest on this matter and he was the one that transmitted all the information I have given him on the matter (the existence of the uncesnored print of "Mata Hari" at the Cinémathèque in Brussels) to Warner Bros (Mr Feltenstein) so that they could eventually restore the film on DVD.

Movies don't belong in museums.

I think Garbo wanted her films to be shown as they were meant to be. There are accounts that she was quite happy during the filming of "Mata Hari", especially rehearsing her scenes with Ramon Novarro and in a letter to a friend in 1941 she expresses her regrets over the changes brought to "Two Faced Woman" by MGM, thinking that the original story as conceived by Salka Viertel was better. Garbo was a free spirit, so I would think she had absolutely no reservations about these quite of things and a highly intelligent actress. Oh, yes I can assure you there is absolutely nothing schocking to the uncensored versions, it is simply that they look more complete and they make sense. If you look closely at "Mata Hari" (the censored version we have today), there is pratically no love scene and the beginning dance scene is quite short and a bit awkward. On the other hand, with the added scenes you get a feeling that there is a love story going on and even the dance scene of Mata Hari gets some sense and becomes sensual and interesting. As for "Two Faced Woman", the uncensored version is much more sensual and complex. The two main characters appear more uncompromising and thei conflicts and exchanges more spicy and interesting. In the censored version with the addition of the silly scene when Douglas calls Snow Lodge and finds out the identity of the "twin sister" well with that it just spoils everything. In the other version we have doubts up to the end and this conflicting attitude makes the film and its characters much more interesting. I truly hope that Warner will do something about those prints and release them on DVD.

Oh,I completely forgot to ask:is the movie being restored or was it just a request from your part?
