Hi Folks! Here is the site which automatically determines the popularity of renowned personalities in the internet. Greta Garbo is ranked as 15th. in Cinema and 163th. popular person on Web. Check out the site at www.thepoplist.com/card.data/Greta%20Garbo_12157506.htm She is ahead of Johnny Depp and Orson Welles but behind Tom Cruise in Cinema category. There is an upward trend in his popularity and she has touched 15th. position many times. Site also indicates that she is Vigro and at number 9 position. |

Frankly I'm suprised. On a list that ranges from Marilyn Monroe to Angelina Jolie and Jennifer Lopez, Greta Garbo ranks third on the actresses list. Out of the top 15, Garbo is the sole representative from the classic era--not counting Monroe, I see her as a modern icon. I'm still new to Garbo. I had no idea she was still so popular.

That's wonderful for a 30's star who started to play in silent movies and who can still supersede modern actors in popularity surely because she represents a good example in all the fields and a great mark for apprentice actors or any artist in quest of balanced style and beauty!

Yes it is indeed wonderful. Garbo did not need publicity, or spicy stories about her private life or any sorts of scandals to remain at the top. She was and remains the Divine and that tells everything. Imagine any of the other well known actors and actresses we know and love (Bette Davis, Katherine Hepburn, etc) what if they ended their career in 1941, how well known would they be today? Garbo still remains a legend and this proves it and so she is not (as some people claimed in another thread a "fading star".
