In one of her first movies : In Ninotschka : As a trial of Pierrot: I think this portrait is a bit « Mime Marceau » style: Other actresses had clown-like pictures, like this amazing Jean Harlow ;D , baby face!!! See below: Clara Bow The singer Cyndi Lauper Cyndi Lauper as sad Pierrot singing « The world is stone » www.youtube.com/watch?v=ksbHV8ktbQoGloria Swanson Marilyn Monroe Wendy & Lisa (with Lisa having the painted face) singing "Satisfaction"! ;D: www.youtube.com/watch?v=M8wdepNat_EA painting by Bernard Buffet: Would you have other pics? Thanks, Kind regards, Charlie

LOl, Charlie. The style of teh make up at this time was really like a mask. Esp. on Dietrich an Harlow...yes even GG..it was too much white powder to make it look perfect but it was doen for a B&W film so this was standard.
I think i have a pic of Clara Bow as a clown.let me check.

Oh, MM looks clownish in your opinion??? That's... well.. really making me sad now. That's her makeup for "Some Like It Hot".. a b/w movie.. so the make up was of course different.. but Clown like???

Yes Nici, I said that because of the talcum powder she used, especially in Bus Stop, I love this movie (I’m a fan), and also the way she drawn her eyebrows, the curve reminds the clowns’ make-up, watch below : Kind regards, Charlie

Well, I really, really dislike clowns... I think that's based upon Stephen King's "It", so I was not really happy to see MM compared with a clown.

Only Pierrot the clown is the exception. Haha, I mean, Pierrot is such a classy type.. no red nose.. no huge grin... just only graceful and beautiful.

Haha, I mean, Pierrot is such a classy type.. no red nose.. no huge grin... just only graceful and beautiful. ;D I agree with you that Pierrot is the best than clown! I saw twice a movie "IT" that scared me alot! Strange image! I remember one of my friend who was afraid of clowns at the circus....he screamed and cried when he was little boy....refused to accept it....how happened! I show you here's two horribles pictures of IT.....ugly fangs and ugly nose! Beautiful naturally pierrot!

Ah, Dave! Oh my god. Put it away!!! *scream* Haha.. well Tim Curry is so horrifying. I only read the book by Stephen King. It's one of his best, but the book alone was enough for me.

You're right, Pierrot is beautiful, but in his story, his soul is not as beautiful since he refuses to help one of his friend. For me, there're two Pierrot stories: one where he's just a nice and innocent clown in love with the moon ; and another where he's like the opposite, non social, excluding his pal. Garbo borrowed the first story for the nice look Perhaps we shouldn't talk about Pierrot because of this non social story, or best, the story should be changed or clearly separated in two versions, otherwise the use of his image could create a critic against the artist borrowing his look, don't you think? I've already been told about it. Strange, for just a clown story! Charlie

Honestly, I never heard of Pierrot's stories.. there you have it! I only call every clown who looks like that "Pierrot".. and that's all I know. But, in "love with the moon", sounds wonderful!
