I saw Susan Lenox last Sunday, and, am I the only one or does GG looks so young until she's getting the "society lady" I think she has a different make up.. she looks so fresh and young... because in most of her movies she looked older then she was... I love her Susan style.. mostly in the pajama... What do you think?

Nici, it was your first time to see "Susan Lenox"? Lucky one, it's an experience to see GG's movie for the first time! I like this movie too, very much! I agree with you about what you said, GG looks much younger and freshy in the first part, till she's getting social lady. I like her in her both styles, but prefer the first one... And in the beginning we really see her as a young girl, so different of her other roles... In "Susan Lenox" Garbo's awesome beautiful... She has style and chic... And I like the plot too... And the fact that the end is quite happy one...

Oh I love Susan Lenox! Except the part where they kill the dog...I always have a hard time seing that in movies.
I love her pajamas but I think my favorite clothing in this movie is that dress she wears at the bar where she works when she meets Rodney again. I simply love that one. Very simple but some sparkling things to give it that extra thing. I want a dress like that.

Yes, of course about GG with a german sheperd dog walked then attacked by the man and shoot to kill it! She ran away! GG said her Susan Lenox film was ghastly!

Well, I didn't find it ghastly. I mean, there are other movies which are ghastly... "Inspiration" is one, or "The Painted Vail".. maybe not really "ghastly".. but not the best movies she made... she's not the reason, the reason is the story... the same with "Romance"...

Well, GG found many of her movies "ghastly"... It doesn't mean they really were bad... It's just the fact GG was kind of perfectionist and aspired to the highest, so that most of the time she thought she could act better... Whatever, she thought, I think she acted greatly anyway... Nici you're right, movies like Inspiration or Romance are must-seen for GG admirers, but their story could be better... I liked Romance mostly because of GG lovely looks and gorgeous costumes, not because of the plot...

Nici you're right, movies like Inspiration or Romance are must-seen for GG admirers, but their story could be better... I liked Romance mostly because of GG lovely looks and gorgeous costumes, not because of the plot... I find that to be the case often too, especially with Inspiration, Romance I haven't had a chance to see yet. Even back when the films were first released I think the case was that people went to see "Garbo" and that is what they remeber of the movie too. In a way I am...hm is proud the right word here (?)..of GG, the way she could carry a whole movie with holes in the plot and dialog and not always so brilliant co-stars. It is really amazing how she could lift it all along with her, or rather she is so captivating that the rest doesn't really matter. On the other hand it makes me sad when one thinks about what she could have done if she had gotten a few more amazing scrips instead. She has made absolutly brilliant movies that still hold up as amazing today and I am grateful we have them, but there could have been more.

"you know, Fish ?"
I love this film. Its one of my faves. Yeah she looks young in the film but that is cos shes acting "Young" ;-)
She was able to do it.In Mata Hari for example , sometimes she looks so young and than shes so mature..you can´t imagine that this woman is only 26,27..
She can do it with her face, her eyes...shes the master of expression, right ;-?
Love it.
by the way, Gable wasn´t first choice....
Gilbert was GGs desired co-star.
