OH I AM MAD ABOUT MAYER MGM AND OTHER STUDIOS DID NOT PLAN TO MAKE A FILM FOR MARLENE OR GRETA TO PLAY "GEORGE SAND".....WHAT'S FOR? I THINK IT WILL BE GREAT FOR DIETRICH AND GARBO!!! OH SAD! NOTHING HAPPENED! DIETRICH AND GARBO WERE SAD BECAUSE THEY CAN'T DO ACT AS "SAND"!!! THAT WHY IT HAPPENED ABOUT "DIVINE WOMAN" WAS LOST...GARBO PLAYED AS SARAH BERNHARDT THAT WAS MY WISH TO SEE IT BUT SHORT SCREEN SCENES FOUND IN MOSCOW...SAD! STRANGE?

WELL, I READ THE GARBO BOOK BY BARRY PARIS....PAGE 269....THALBERG LIKED THE IDEA WELL ENOUGH AT FIRST TO PUT MERCEDES UNDER CONTRACT, BUT LATER HE DECLARED THAT GARBO COULD NOT WEAR MEN'S CLOTHES ON THE SCREEN. "DO YOU WANT TO PUT ALL AMERICA AND ALL THE WOMEN'S CLUBS AGAINST HER?" HE ASKED MERCEDES. "YOU MUST BE OUT OF YOUR MIND." ....WE HAVE BEEN BUILDING GARBO UP FOR YEARS AS A GREAT GLAMOROUS ACTRESS, AND NOW YOU COME ALONG AND TRY TO PUT HER (GARBO) INTO PANTS AND MAKE A MONKEY OUT OF HER. THE STORY IS OUT." OOOOOH WHAT'S BAD IDEA? DIFFICULT? PROBLEM ABOUT MEN'S CLOTHES? HE DID NOT LET HER DONE AS " GEORGE SAND" YOU SEE HOW GARBO LOVED TO DRESS UP AS MAN ....YOU SEE "QUEEN CHRISTINA" WAS THE BEST FILM....WELL? I THINK M.G.M. BOSS WAS SO MEAN AND RUDE? ?

Thalberg was known to being tyrant at MGM. He controlled all of the stars' personal and professional lives, which is insane. But Mayer is also cruel mogul, too. But you have to admit that there are several great films that are released under those men. For example, Garbo!

Thalberg was cruel?? i thought he was the "normal"cone in the MGM team.
anyway, all of them were horrible most times...even if they made great art.i wonder how many lifes has been destroyed, taers and blood has flown...to create all those films.
Who was the one who wanted jean harlow in bed and Jean didn´t want to.Mayer or thalberg??
