I think that when there still no tv film or whatever is planned right now...we still will not get one in 2005.what a shame...
but maybe the new book , the dvds and so on will make her "interresting" again for the newer Tv generation and that some producers will make a film in 2006 or so....
its a shame...;(

Jane Seymour did not make it yet so long time ago....nothing happened! She gets older now! Too late? Yeah! I think because we need young actress can play as Greta Garbo in a biography movie in the future after celebrated her 100th birthday....how long will they afford to buy a biography movie for Greta Garbo story?

Oh you're teasing me ;D! it's cool but unfair too, cause you know we need a true model looking girl!!!! i mean a really tall girl and perfectly good on each angles otherwise it could be disappointing as people are so influenced to prefer the model style only! Me, i just wanna be affiliated with people having common points with me, and showing ideas about it, and a physical tendancy, to put myself somewhere. Never trust people who try to create rivalries or controversies about it. There are nothing about it, or not from me, or we can talk about it to make the things clearer 'cause no one is perfect you know, especially in the very small messages we have to make here, difficult to be clear and short. In fact, I don't know if the right girl is from this century, maybe in the next? I think an actress of nowadays can do it, like Cate Blanchett, but more with her own style than GG style, 'cause we maybe need someone looking really like Garbo to accept the story? Personally, i'd like to incite somebody to make a movie based on something she made, but not directly about her 'cause i think it's really not necessary. I'm really HAPPY AND SURPRISED that Jane Seymour wanted to play Garbo because i'm a fan of Jane Seymour!!!!!! She represents for me the image of the balanced woman, very creative on various domains, beautiful and intellectual at the same time!! Witty and soulful like Garbo. I'm very proud about it!! She makes younger her age, i think she could do something anyway!! Many thanks for this info!! Charlie

I feel really strange about this subject, somebody playing Garbo in a film……..I am not sure I would like that…….but then again, I liked the Bancroft Garbo film, it was very informative and amusing, and Garbo was presented mysteriously enough for me.
Years back I imagine they would do a film with somebody being Garbo, but never visible. Sort of from her eye view, sort of what she would have seen…..in the streets, in her flat…reaction of the world to a legend……….I could only imagine a good film with a Garbo actrice, if it would be a creative script. Something interesting……..otherwise it would be very disappointing, because it is not Garbo. One would say: she does not look like her at all…….or the makeup is perfect, but then she never needed make up herself………There is a film I once saw with her and Gilbert in it on one of the movie channels in the UK….I thought it was so not right and boring..…….
Most of the films about actors didn’t work for me………the ones which do work are Marlene by Schell, there you don’t see her at all but at the same time it is the most revealing program about Dietrich so far, ……..Mummy dearest worked for me because I didn’t know Crawford very well at the time, and the film starts so fantastically, with her hands in the cold water………and when she turns around, it made sense to me…..but I really didn’t know her well enough…
Other films about stars, I can’t remember any ……..Swanson sort of made a film about herself with Sunset Boulevard…….by including her own clip in it which wasn’t seen before, …….but maybe it was Billy Wilder, who made this happen, he was a genius in my eyes so most of his work I see as brilliant……….even right there before talkies…….People on a Sunday….

Oh that's a very good idea not to see her really, but feel her presence, her feelings!! very clever I would be glad to see a modern movie or photos just to remember her soul and fashion, just to feel this style in nowadays (even if the past is great) i mean, not as a copy or something false or disappointing. It's just to feel it more alive in the present. For example, in the last catalogue 3 suisses, there is a pretty chestnut model showing the style of Garbo (beret, coat, gloves, etc...) and i found it very nice and cool, and that's exactly what i'm looking for, just this simple thing bring me satisfaction. As the style of Garbo was really posh and successful (the designers worked very hard on it), i really appreciate to see it clearly shown as a good reference still from nowadays and particularly in my country as Paris is considered as the capital of the fashion, and also to find more easily various clothes in harmony with this style, because i often find one hat or one coat garboish but separated from the rest. Maybe there will be a shop very garboish one day. I would be happy just to see a movie with the girl from the catalogue in various situations enhancing her Garbo mood and clothes, just for the power and beauty of the images, even if she's not a strong look-alike. She's got enough to remind GG anyway. And we could write a nice story around, something clever and spiritual, but no really need to make something complicated if we can really feel good with the effect and atmosphere... I don't think somebody could be seriously against that? No reasons... Just check the girl from the catalogue and you will understand... Charlie

Hello, Here is the girl from the catalogue i was talking about in my previous post: There's a lot of other good photos where she reminds GG! I like the gloves (here above) with laces because I imagine the new Mata Hari with 3 different styles included this one reminding a country-woman / globe trotter like a free European amazon. Here are the 3 styles I’m thinking about: - A kind amazon, like the free Goddess Artemis running in the forest (Garbo loved so much the nature and animals): so boots with laces, and style “bohemia” with clothes from various countries: - A magician: with a cape hooded and mystery Some pieces of flowers running on her body without nudity but just some parts shown (the arm, the back) as the very clever idea taken from the original movie that enables a woman to transmit the idea of love and sensuality to a man, but staying correct, without becoming too intimate or vulgar / shocking. I always thought a woman should be intimate only with her boyfriend, it prevents from doing mistakes or regretting something. It’s also the conclusion of various actresses criticizing their love scenes. In Garbo’s code, the “ideal deal” was found between the lovely and the sexy, it should become a reference everywhere! - A spy doing martial arts: melting the style Mata Hari and martial arts with a black costume: It’s a bit difficult to make, a very good designer is necessary because when I tried it on my own, I found it rather “hard rock” style, not exactly what I expected, but never mind… I’ve drawn a kind of convenient top, and just after a designer created it and put it on a catalogue. So I’m going to see how it looks soon… - I think about the opportunity of a love scene inside a harem (as Mata Hari travels and find wonderful places around the world to make her shows, being admired by Ambassadors as well as Princes...) because of the meaning of the harem: a place where love could be true or false, and that’s the question between Mata Hari and Alexis (we haven’t seen that in the movie) : we suppose that they were sometimes spying each other, lying to each other, as well as joined by a very strong love. It also explains my choice of the song “Light my fire” ‘cause the lyrics say that he lies (a complex relationship between love and power). (Indian version by Ananda Shankar) www.amazon.com/gp/music/clipserve/B0009A6MTE001003/0/ref=mu_sam_wma_001_003/102-8825642-4437740www.amazon.fr/exec/obidos/clipserve/B00000I50X001003/402-7783238-9790514(the original version by The Doors) www.amazon.com/gp/music/clipserve/B00005LVZH001002/0/ref=mu_sam_wma_001_002/002-5350955-3600815My third reason is that the Arab culture preserved the beauty through the belly dancing, refusing the vulgar, while the occident accepted it, so I think we should enhance this advantage. In the Celtic dance, there was also this respect of the grace so the occident is connected somewhere. By the way, the gift of Mata was to recognize the good of each country, a political peace underneath. Anyway, I respect some celebrities who made nudes when they had something glamour and when they limited the eroticism, ‘cause I try to peck things that interest me in various domains, otherwise it’s hard to get something nowadays : for example, I appreciate the dress of Vanity in “Pretty Mess” where she melts lingerie with a kind of Mata Hari black dress showing the back: (and also her baroque/Peter Pan look in “Under the Influence”), and I like Michela Rocco di Torrepadula in “Nefertiti” because she’s really graceful. I just don’t trust the entire eroticism. Phillip (the administrator of the board) is going to create a second board (parallel to this one) where we will be able to talk more about our own projects connected to Garbo. I have proposed this idea to him in order to keep this one more authentically devoted to Garbo herself because I suppose people rather come here to discover Garbo herself (photos and information first…). Charlie P.S. : my other choices of music for this imagined movie based on the life of Mata Hari would be: - Anoushka Shankar – Naked www.amazon.com/gp/music/clipserve/B000AV2G6A001004/0/ref=mu_sam_wma_001_004/102-7510977-1147347- Suphala – Piscean Dream www.amazon.com/gp/music/clipserve/B0008ENJDI001005/0/ref=mu_sam_wma_001_005/102-7510977-1147347- Vangelis – Siren’s whispering www.amazon.com/gp/music/clipserve/B000002JB8001002/0/ref=mu_sam_wma_001_002/102-8825642-4437740- Ananda Shankar – Sagar (the ocean) www.amazon.com/gp/music/clipserve/B0009A6MTE001006/0/ref=mu_sam_wma_001_006/104-7140477-4919907and of course his version of "Light my Fire" (originally from The Doors posted before). At the end of the movie, she has to escape changing of country and continuing her globe trotting life around the world… leaving a love behind that maybe she will find again in a second movie? So it's not exactly the true end of Mata Hari, it's just based on her story... 'cause i'd like something more fun

amazing...........so we should write it together....... there would be such a potential in that.......without ever haing to spoil it by a face which kills the image.....
I am sorry but any other person, pretending to be her, will fall flat in a film.....it's fine in a photo, to create the make up and look but not in a film. The face is so unsual and it will never be the same..........but if it would make other people happy, why not.......
John, we should do a script and send it to agencies in Hollywood.......I have no contacts there but many success stories have started like that........wasn't there somebody who threw a script over a heach, into the garden of Katherine Hepburn (or was it Davies?).......and she did the film in the end........the only contact is through my old boss, who was in a film with Hepburn...........but that is that........
let's do something different, let's be successful..........

Thank you for your so kind messages! You’re too cute yourself Oh great! Yes of course, we’re allowed to believe in our dreams creating something together, all successful people beginning like that!! I already have contacts in movies production but not sure they’re going to do something ‘cause all things around Garbo look so “big” you know, they would prefer something higher like Warner Bros production… and I feel so lonely and ignorant in this domain, I would prefer to do something with you, members! My dreams already changed something in my life, so it can happen, it’s true! Keep a part in yourself to believe in it! Like OldChris posted in the subject “Re: Vote for more Garbo films on DVD”, Ophelia in Hamlet was attracted by the sea, maybe in love with Poseidon? Poseidon, God of the Sea, illustrated by Giovanni Caselli... …Garbo was a fan of the sea too! The sea created all the life around… So I could put that too in the scenario based on Mata Hari ;D!! A melting of real and spiritual… Any things you could post here could help the story, listen: The character is in love with the sea. She makes strange dreams about Poseidon. When she travels around the globe, it’s a kind of search about him. And through her shows, she represents the Siren according to each country she visited. The government ask her to do the spy when they notice her impact and globe trotting life, but she refuses. However, in order to avoid problems, she has to accept to search somebody supposed to be in her neighbourhood. When she arrives in India, she’s close to the sea of Oman, a place culturally at the crossroads… I loved the stories of Waterworld and Le Grand Bleu! I wonder how it would be as a female version…. Surely, very romantic and spiritual; the kind of stories that Jane Seymour enhances very well. I remember when she played a girl in love with a ghost, it was very strange and special, I loved that! She knows how to be romantic and sensual, never dull. We are lucky that, still now, and I think forever, men are in love with this style, no need to finish in Penthouse Magazine or such a thing. Just the effect “evening dress” or “summer/sport” in the clothes is enough to look attractive, don’t you think? The designers created it at the 30’s and for Garbo because her stylish and serious face inspired that (and because of a good censorship), but it’s a feminist gift for every women, as it respects and protects their intimacy as well as allowing them a freedom (changing from the usual coats and very strict clothes). I think the censorship of nowadays should act against all things exceeding this style ‘cause so many female artists complained about it in the medias. Sometimes, it destroyed completely their private relationships as it happened for Marilyn, whereas she needed so much a stable situation! But it wasn’t her fault, ‘cause it’s a woman trick to be sexy. It’s just the organization around that can be difficult… We could find a true dancer looking garboish and model. The Opera in Paris is not very far from me. Our movie could be really recognized by the professional dancers. I don’t mean to create something better than Garbo or disappointing, just something pleasant enabling to enhance nowadays the good of styles/ideas she created or promoted, like a fresh stimulating vision because we are young and not from the past. Couldn’t we have a modern reference not replacing Garbo but acting as a modern messenger? And also including things in the scenario that we haven't seen in the original movie. Remember when teenagers watched “Material Girl” from Madonna: many of them didn’t know that she was imitating Marilyn Monroe before to read interviews of Madonna. Just after, they searched info about Marilyn and then became fans creating web pages. It could be the same for Garbo… It’s important if we want to keep a domain/market around her and saving Dvds, photos, etc… for the future. For many people, the black & white pictures or old styles are not attracting anymore except if they first saw a modern picture. Then, they understand. It’s just a question of effect. Madonna – Material Girl www.youtube.com/watch?v=d9-s4KyGUAU&search=material%20girlMarilyn Monroe – Diamonds are a girl’s best friend www.youtube.com/watch?v=l6nrL6ySn1g&search=marilyn%20monroePerhaps, one day, we’ll have a chic channel to spread all the stylish culture around . Hey, Warner Bros, contact us ;D charlie.lovin@wanadoo.fr Charlie ;D We're young and gifted, let's make all things different! ;D

Hey! Here are other ideas for a scenario inspired by Mata Hari: At the beginning of the story, I’d like to show that she is part of a modern Occidental group of dance, loving their culture but interested in the ethnic dances ‘cause I don’t want to mean that she refuses her own culture. So she wears the Repetto’s clothes (like in all dance schools) and show styles from Occident (like, for example, English, Swedish, Irish, Spanish…). She also practises martial arts . Having the possibility to travel a lot, she decides to make her own research about ethnic dances to bring it back with costumes in Occident. The bagpipe meets the sitar…Oh! the Indian music can be so modern sometimes!, listen to this: www.amazon.com/gp/music/clipserve/B0008ENJDI001008/0/ref=mu_sam_wma_001_008/002-5350955-3600815It could be various music/musicians represented in this movie! Oh, I love Mark Reilly ;D. I would imagine him cousin of Antonio Banderas, jealous of each other for the love of Mata Hari! During her travelling time, she has some adventures in the countries concerned (so it could have several movies about it). Some men from the government think that she has maybe a slight diplomatic influence between the countries, and then decide to use her, pushing her toward some ways, so the problems come… Alexis is a military investigating. He uses false identities and disguises as a false Arab Prince… so cute like Ricky Martin here : …to meet her as a belly dancer, when she makes a show in an Arab/Indian palace. I imagine he suits to her beauty very much. I’d like the dance not to be very classical belly dance, I have some ideas for her to look very magician, mesmerizing, the rose of the palace (having worked dance myself) but I keep it secret here ! It will be my magic touch... I’m not sure a scenario would be great without it… . Jealous of the true Prince, Alexis would prefer to keep her for himself! Mentally, she’s a bit illuminated, you know, like all the artists, she can exceed the limits of the real, not like an hippie but for the search of spirituality and art, Melusine for Poseidon… The artists always have their own interpretation of life , visions of signs of the time or whatever… I’d love to see her walking at the seaside like a monk in quest of Poseidon, wearing white veils like Diana Rigg on this picture: And the music with the breath of the sea/Poseidon…strange and spiritual! www.amazon.com/gp/music/clipserve/B0009A6MTE001006/0/ref=mu_sam_wma_001_006/104-7140477-4919907And the exchanges of loving gazes with Alexis, in slow motion like the first notes of this : www.amazon.fr/exec/obidos/clipserve/B00000I50X001003/402-7783238-9790514Who represents Alexis in front of Poseidon? I think he’s the fire in front of the water. Maybe the recent disasters of sea represent the anger of Poseidon that, in her spiritual illumination, she imagines she could calm ? In her shows, she could be in the water sometimes? Like made the magician Houdini but not trapped like him, of course. With her costume of magician (cape hooded), she could have scales drawings on her skin, or flowers, or ethnic symbols … So, you see that I melt Mata Hari and Ophelia in the scenario…ih! I would also like to put a relationship of solidarity with another woman , for example, with a woman that she’s supposed to find. They finally escape from the government’s trap using a cunning plan but she personally stays connected to the government anyway, so new adventures can continue in another country… For the sensuality, I’d like to bring something efficient and useful, like for example, the success of the massages: why Thalasso replaces the men for many women nowadays? ‘cause we can only find good things in it . For example, a scene of massage after her training with his martial arts teacher, why not Tony Jaa?.... Oh amazing thaï atmosphere! And also in the harem with Alexis…uh!....or traditionally Californian, I don’t know… Yes, we could revive something positively sensual in the movies thanks to Mata Hari! I think it’s better than the sexy… it’s correct and attractive at the same time. That’s why it suited to Garbo, she couldn’t do something excessive. I wish all the sex market would be banished and replaced by something nicely sensual, all the models would be happy and no more instruments. Sensual boys are the best lovers! We would spread such a beauty around….no more aggressiveness or stress ! Charlie

Hello pals I think that Eliza Dushku could be really great as Mata Hari, ...not in the way of a double of Garbo, i know, but really good as the true Mata Hari, ‘cause the way she moves is graceful and she’s got charm and mystery, with a worrying side, like the spy character. Moreover, she already made martial arts in Buffy and the Vampires and there’re martial arts in my scenario of remake… Charlie
