Oh yes, I can already imagine GG with Peck...It would have been great... Anyway, the photo is looking good, great quality.... Hi Irina!! IF ..GG would have agreed to star in this picture than she would have been opposite Lawrence Oliviere. Hitch wanted Lawrence and GG....later he asked Peck and Vivien Leigh, Olivia de Haviland and some others;) Lawrence and GG.WHAT A TEAM THIS WOULD HAVE BEEN, RIGHT?? Love, j.

I had no idea that he wanted GG to star with Olivier... Indeed, these two could have been great team... They could star together in "Queen Christina" too... But GG preferred her ex-fiancee, Jack Gilbert, whose career was destroyed. She tried to help him, but nothing could help Jack who was already lost... But for Garbo herself it was her greatest work on screen ever... (do you agree?) Anyway, I liked Jack as Don Antonio, however it could be interesting to see Lawrence in that role...

"Walking With Garbo" by Raymond Daum wrote that "Laurence Olivier, new to Hollywood, was the studio's first choice to co-star in QUEEN CHRISTINA, but was dismissed after Garbo complained that their chemistry was not right. Olivier graciously took the blame, calling himself "a mouse to her lioness."
